Igroup enter ‘Business In Wales Hot 100’
9th September, 2007
Foundry resident, igroup Ltd, have been awarded a place in the Wales Hot 100. Set up in 2005 this innovative company moved into The Foundry in December 2006 and has recently reached an annual turnover of £1 million and employs 14 people in Wales. This represents a major achievement for the unique mobile software developer and this success began with an inspirational decision founder Steve Rastall made one morning. He used to work in a software company and was seldom paid commission on the business he generated. In a classic entrepreneurial move he woke up one day and said to Michelle, his wife: “I am leaving my job and setting up my own company today”. In fact it was the following day, but with next to no money he did it. The first six months were difficult, especially the initial drop in income, although his wife helped and they had no holidays or meals out that year.
Then the business really took off and now directly employs 14 people in Wales. The diverse team is a key strength of igroup with predominantly graduates from Welsh universities including NEWI and Aberystwyth. Many people joined the company on the GO Wales Programme via NEWI – a great programme for getting graduates into Welsh businesses – and the firm has had support from a range of Welsh business support agencies which it claims has been key to its success.
The company now has many blue-chip clients both in the UK and abroad including Peabody Trust, Manheim Auction, Tube Lines, Inviron and Secured Express.
The company is currently working towards ISO 9001.
